Making a simple honey cake:

Step 1: Knead the dough.

Now gradually, sifting through a strainer, add flour. Do this in small portions so that no lumps form. As a result, you should get a thick, viscous, but still not cool, but a batter of golden-honey hue.

Step 2: Bake the cakes.

Set the oven to preheat in advance 180 degrees and start preparing the baking dish. To do this, cut out two circles of parchment paper that match the size of the bottom of the form. After laying the parchment paper inside the form, fill the dough there. I prefer to use two small forms, so that the cakes are better baked, but you can use one big one, if that is more convenient for you.

Place the raw cake blanks inside the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Readiness must be checked with a toothpick. Just pull the cakes a little out of the oven and pierce it each, if the toothpick at the outlet is dry, then the dough is ready. In the meantime, honey cakes are well baked in the oven, start cooking sour cream.

Step 3: Cook the sour cream.

I choose sour cream for a simple honey cake, because cooking it is very simple and it mixes wonderfully with sponge cakes and most toppings. In order to prepare sour cream, simply pour the fat sour cream into the mixer bowl and pour the icing sugar into it afterwards. Beat and mix everything with a mixer until the cream is much thicker and all the powdered sugar dissolves.

Step 4: Form a Cake.

Remove the finished cakes from the oven and wait until they cool slightly. Only then cut them with a special knife into two parts each. The crumbs remaining after this procedure should never be thrown away, leave them for decoration.

On a large flat dish, put the first half of the cake and carefully, with a thick layer, smear it with sour cream, then put the second half of the cake on top and grease it again. Repeat this procedure until you have completely collected the whole cake. Then coat with cream top and sides of the finished product.

At the last stage, I usually decorate the honey cake with biscuit crumbs, just laying them on top of the sour cream on the top of the cake and on its sides.
Now this simple honey cake should be soaked, and for this, send it to the refrigerator on 3-4 hours or at night. Before serving, you can get it in advance, somewhere beyond 15-20 minutesso that it is not so cold.

Step 5: Serve a simple honey cake.

A simple honey cake should be served as a dessert. Put it on the table in a large dish and cut it in the same way as usual, and then put it in portions in prepared saucers.
